Initiation of Amendments to LPP/09 - Local Planning Policy 09 – Kingsford Smith Business Park Design Guidelines

At Its Ordinary Council Meeting held 25 February 2026, Council resolved to initiate an amendment to the Local Planning Policy 09 – Kingsford Smith Business Park Design Guidelines (LPP/09).

The purpose of LPP/09 is to ensure that a high and consistent standard of development is maintained throughout the Kingsford Smith Business Park precinct. The amended objectives of this policy are to:

  1. To establish a high-quality light industrial / bulky goods estate which services Port Hedland and creates employment opportunities.
  2. To form a cohesive light industrial / bulky goods precinct which capitalises on the proximity of the Port Hedland International Airport and allows a for a range and scale of businesses that may benefit from this proximity.
  3. To implement and achieve sustainable building and management practices, including maximizing resource efficiency, minimising waste to landfill, minimizing energy use, and water consumption.

The policy is available to view at the Towns Civic Centre and Depot during office hours up to and including close of business on 28 April 2026.
